The building features an Indochine-inspired design that blends French colonial architecture with elements reflecting Sapa's local culture. Its most recognizable features include mustard-yellow walls, emerald-green details, arched entrances, European-style balconies and a striking clock tower above the main entrance.
The clock tower is often compared with Big Ben because of its appearance, making it one of Sapa's most photographed landmarks. The main facade is the easiest and most popular photography location at Sun Plaza. For a full view of the clock tower, stand across the road or near the edge of Sapa Square. This position allows you to include the entrance, tower and surrounding street scene in one frame.
Early morning usually offers softer light and fewer vehicles. Late afternoon gives the yellow walls a warmer tone, while mist can add depth and atmosphere to the image.
