Located in the central of Vietnam, Hoi An has well-known for its beautifully preserved Old Town with distinctive architecture. The UNESCO-listed centre is home to some 800 historical buildings where display the city's unique heritage with Chinese temples, Japanese architectural designs and European-style buildings. A visit to Hoi An is easily accessible on foot or cyclo due to there are restrictions on modern development with no cars or motorbikes allowed in the Old Town. As a major port of the ancient Cham Kingdom between the seventh and 10th centuries due to its advantage location on the banks of the Hoai (also known as Thu Bon now) River. Hoi An is also famous for its tailor shops with over 400 tailors and rows of shoemakers.
